Word Work: Our class will be learning about compound words this week. Our pattern will
show up in words like understand, fire engine, and push-ups. Students should read their word
lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns.
Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Weather Reminder: As we enter spring, we enter a time of greatly fluctuating weather. Please make sure your child always has a coat with them as sometimes it will be 20 and
sometimes 70. When the temperature is 50 degrees is when I allow students to go without a
coat if they have long sleeves. Please also remember that with our proximity to the lake, our
weather may be predicted to be 60 but it can be 40-50 here if there is a north wind.

Healthy Snacks: Our second grade classes had a visit from our very own Mrs. Trumbley
to celebrate March is Reading Month and Agriculture Week. She shared a story about where
our lunch comes from with food examples. They had a wonderful discussion and shared healthy
food options. Thank you for helping your child select healthy food options for our school snack
time whenever possible.
