Word Work: Our class will continue learning about the variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the /oo/ sound in words like moon, soup, screw, and glue. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.
Valentines Party: Thank you to Catherine Kirshenbaum for organizing our final party of the year. I appreciate Mrs. Grossman coming in and overseeing her plans while she was away. Thank you to Mrs. Drewno for a fun wreath tying craft. It looked like so much fun, I think I will give that a try over summer break. Thank you also to Mrs. Hosbein and Mrs. Hess for running the centers. Finally, thank you to Mrs. Fisbeck and Mrs. Robles for the supples. Hopefully I did not miss anyone who may have provided additional supplies. To everyone thank you for supporting our three parties. The children had a great time. It is always a little sad after the last party as that is the first sign that the year is quickly coming to an end. Fortunately, we do still a few months of great fun and learning ahead to look forward to.
Conferences: Thank you to everyone who returned their note. I will be sending home conference times home this week if you need one or you requested one.
Book Orders: Book order forms will be coming home this week so that we can have books before spring break. The order will be due on March 1st. Thank you to everyone for your orders this year. With the bonus points I have stocked up our classroom with a number of the popular books such as "Who Would Win" and "If You Had Animal...".
