Word Work:   Our class will be learning about the variant vowel /oo/ syllable patterns this week. Our syllable pattern makes the /oo/ sound in words like moon, soup, screw, and glue. Students should read their word lists, discuss the meaning of the words, and practice spelling words with similar syllable patterns. Spelling City is ready for students to access the practice list for the week.

Valentine's Day Party: Our party will be from 2:15-3:15 on Thursday, February 14th. Valentine boxes can come in on that day. They may be made from tissue boxes, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, or other ideas you may have.  If your child does not bring in a collection box, they will be invited to put together a Valentine envelope during their recess time on the 14th.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

New Online Programs: Your child is receiving a new login card for two programs. First we will begin using Khan Mappers. This part of Khan learning designs math activities around your students most recent NWEA math test. The students will also be using the same login to access a new typing program that we will be starting in the labs on Tuesday. Please let me know if you have any questions.
