First Week: It was a wonderful first week in second grade! We have an
incredible class. As you know they filled the bead jar by Wednesday. I have
never had a class fill it in 2 days, they are already an impressive team. I look
forward to sharing more with you during Back to School night.
Picture day is tomorrow: Please remember if you are ordering pictures, you may send in the payment tomorrow or order online.

Nightly Reading: Students are expected to read every night. This week
students are expected to read for 10 minutes each night. If you have been
reading throughout the summer and your child's reading stamina is greater
than 10 minutes, please continue your routine. Our goal for 2nd grade is for
all children to read independently for a minimum of 20 minutes. They should be
able to read fluently, retell the information, and answer a variety of questions
accurately.

Back to School Night: I am really looking forward to see everyone at Back to School Night next Monday, September 17th. Our time is from 7:15-8:00. I know this is a late time after a long day. I will have a paper that sums up our year. During the presentation I will hit the high points and leave the rest to questions. Please know that this time is for general questions about the room and the year only. I will not discuss students as I feel a great concern to someone overhearing something. If there is something I need to know hopefully you have included it in the parent survey. If not you may send me an email or schedule a separate time to talk. If you are not able to attend, I will send all of the papers home in your child's folder the next day. Please also remember this night is for parents only. Thank you so much and see you on the 17th.
Parent Teacher Conferences: I look forward to learning more about your individual children during our October conferences. This is a time when your children see the important people in their lives coming together to support them educationally and emotionally as second graders. Please take a few minutes at Back to School Night to schedule this important meeting with me. There will be a table by the gym where you can schedule your child’s / children’s October conference(s).
